Raleigh Paper Promotional Booklet

The Book of Font was first conceived in 2006. As a joint promotional exercise, we approached Raleigh Paper with the idea of producing a typographic piece which stood out from the crowd.

Paper samples often look the same: high-end photography and minimal design, all trying to shout louder than the others. Our approach was different. We used typography – a discipline rarely allowed free-reign – as a design vehicle for gaining market traction. Raleigh liked the idea and the Book of Font was born.

Now in it’s third edition, the Book of Font also acts as a type catalog, but with a difference. Rather than the same boring display of alphabets, we chose instead to show the fonts in real-life usage, often in wild and highly expressive ways.

You can download a PDF copy of this booklet on our Download Catalog page.

2010 marked the 20th anniversary of this prestigious event. A hardcover book was produced to mark the occasion, showcasing the work of all speakers who have appeared during the last 20 years. Australian Type Foundry’s Wayne Thompson appeared as a speaker at the 2010 event, and his work was highlighted in the commemorative book.

ATF stationery

Some experiments with our own corporate identity.

We wanted our own logo to appear authentic, and after several experiments in Photoshop we decided instead to hand-stamp each card, letterhead and with comps.

We came across some old typographic woodblocks in a junk shop and began to play around with them. The pictures above show our attempts at randomising our identity, by using combinations of woodblock letters, hand-stamped on each card, instead of a logo.
