Advanced Typography Topics Covered:
• Extending your font into a professional family
• Advanced Opentype coding
• Colorfonts and variable fonts
Practical Component:
One-on-one with your tutor, you’ll be shown how to add weights to your font, determine the weight distribution between family members, and compare and calculate character spacing in light vs bold weights. Still haven’t had enough punishment? To truly professionalise your font, we’ll look at adding special characters and foreign language support, ligatures, small caps and old-style numerals. We will also get into naming your family with the correct protocols (much more involved than you’d think). Overall, this section covers the tremendous power of OpenType and shows you how to add features which will supercharge your font ready for market.
